This Santos is from North America around New Mexico or Texas. The carving is excellent and much of the original paint is still intact. There is a lot of detail to hair, beard and face. The figure is missing one hand which had been carved separate from the main body of the saint. This separate carving of hands, wings, etc is typical of these figures from the late 18th century. There is also some damage to the feet, but the Santos is in remarkable condition. It has been attached to a wood base and is a great addition for the collector for religious items or old carvings.
