Seventeen unused Arts and Crafts era tiles. Each tile measures 3 inch square and 1/2 inch thick. Made from a red faience clay they are covered in splashes of blue and white under a translucent glaze that allows the color of the red clay to peek through in a pinkish hue. None are marked.

I bought these in Brimfield years ago. The person that was selling them had the entire stock of a tile setter that worked in the 1920's. I bought all of it. There were only quality tile makers represented like Mercer Moravian, Batchelder, Flint and Grueby. I suspect these tiles are Moravian but the clay is puzzling, more like Enfield or Mueller. I tucked these away for myself and thought of them as jewels of the tile world.
