15842 Antique High-grade Burl Walnut Bar Cabinet

This is what they call top of the line in Chippendale burl walnut bar cabinets out of England. This one probably dates from the 1940s or ‘50s, and is stunning. I went online to see if the dates were right, and saw that the competition – if they had one this nice -- is selling cabinets just like this one for more than $3000! This one is priced far more reasonably and is clean and in great condition. When the two shapely burl walnut doors on top are opened, it reveals a birch interior with a full mirrored back, a mirrored bottom shelf, and a pullout tray for cutting up lemons and other fruit that’s mirrored. There are racks and shelves on both sides, and there is a place where another shelf could be put, and it is lighted, although it came out of England so it would have to be rewired to meet U.S. safety standards. The top cabinet doors close, and there is a double latch on the left-hand side, while on the right-hand side there is a lock that does come with a key, but we don’t guarantee that any of these old keys or locks will work perfectly unless they are cleaned and tested. The key opens the bottom door, which has a shelved interior behind the right-hand door. Next is the really impressive part: When the doors are closed, stand back and take a look at this gorgeous piece. It has a solid walnut carved crest, a molded deep dish molded dome top, matched burl walnut veneer panels on all four doors which is really hard to pull off but has been done at this factory in this case. It has solid walnut carved molding between the two top doors and the two bottom doors, and at the bottom it has solid walnut carved Chippendale Queen Anne pad foot legs, and open pierce-carved floral designs with clamshell carvings of solid walnut. Even the sides are burl walnut. You will not find another tall bar cabinet better than this for such a reasonable price. The overall size is 39 inches wide, 18 inches deep, and 69 inches high from the legs to the top of the carved crest. I wish I was a drinker, because I’d keep it for myself!
