Antique 12-pc English Porcelain Dessert Service Attributed to Samuel Alcock

This twelve-piece dessert service, appraised for insurance purposes in 1998 by Sotheby's for $7,000 and attributed Coalport, is now believed to be from Samuel Alcock. From an important Bedford NY estate. Provenance upon request.  This service has a turquoise ground decorated with ivy leaves enclosing twelve different flower specimens, with the Latin species name painted on reverse.  Overall condition is very good, with no visible chips or restorations.  There is noticeable wear to the gilding on each piece. Set includes:

(1) footed oblong two-handled stand (11.75 x 8.75 x 2.5 inches)

(1) footed oval two-handled stand (10.75 x 9 x 2 inches)

(2) single-handled stands (9.75 x 8.75 x 2.5 inches)

(8) plates (9 inch diameter)
