A miniature pitcher standing 3.25 inches tall and 2.5 inches wide, plus the handle; has a creamy off-white background and a grasshopper applied on each side. The grasshoppers are different on each side as shown in our photos. Chinese pottery is known for its' motif of grasshoppers and insects. We feel it is hand-painted, having details that can only come from this method of color. It also has on the bottom either a #71 or from looking under a magnifying glass this apparent #71 could be Chinese writing. It is perfect except for one small chip near the lip, so tiny we found we could not photograph the chip. It has been difficult to date this piece, so we are estimating the early 1900's because of the estate from which it was purchased.
