Mexian Carved Wood & Quills Mask Rare Antique * PRICE REDUCDED * !

Antique Hand Carved Mexican Wooden Mask with Porcupine Quills and a Reptile Skin head dress. I think it is iguana skin. It measures 10" x 6". This measurement does not include the quill that make up his beard. The color is much darker that what my pictures show. I am not sure what area it is from it is quite rustic. At first I thought is was African due the full lips. The Mayan's have this feature as well. After doing some research I found some similar mask with quills attached in the same manner that were claimed to be Mexican. Perhaps it is from the Yucatan Peninsula. I found the mask at an estate sale that was loaded with ethnic artifacts from all over the world.

The condition is good for age and use. There are a few scales missing from the reptile hide. The wood has a lot of age to it in the way of patina and some cracking due to age. The quills appear to be abundant..
