tstanding FRENCH NAPOLEONIC INFANTRY OFFICER'S SWORD, CIRCA 1810. Gold gilded brass hilt and bone grip, down turned shell guard bearing ancient Roman's soldier offering the sword on the altar decorated with banners and the civic crown (common symbols for I Empire). Straight, single edged blade with fuller and spear point. The blade is etched with martial trophies and panels of foliage. Overall length: 34 1/4 inches (87cm).
