Antique late 18th century scarce German-Prussian infantry sword Pattern 1780-1790. A solid brass stirrup-shaped hilt with an outer bar and pommel strongly resembling an animal head. The slightly curved single edged blade is slightly pitted overall. For similar swords see "ME FECIT POTZDAM. Altpreußische Blankwaffen des 18. Jahrhunderts" by Bernard A.Windsheimer. This pattern of sword was used by the Prussian Infantry and the Fusiliers regiments during the Napoleonic Wars. Overall length: 61 cm (24 in).
