This sword is a typical Turkish infantry sword Yatagan, as well was very popular in the Balkans and came to be the national sword of the Balkan nations. The blade is very well made and has on both sides of the blade writing and a pattern although it is partly worn out. This sword is in very good condition considering the age, dated approximately early 19th century. The grip of the sword is made of horn, the wooden scabbard is covered by velvet . The entire mountings of the Yatagan are made of some alloy of metal but it is not silver, not pewter, not lead and not tin. The overall length of the sword in the scabbard is 30 ¼ inches and the length of the blade is 22 ¼ inches. All our artefacts are accompanied by a Certificate Of Authenticity.
