French M1763 Flintlock Pistol

Flat lockplate marked to the St. Etienne arsenal and fitted with the large cock. Tapering round 9" barrel in .69 caliber, marked at the breach with the two-digit date number "65" (made in 1765, weak strike showing only bottom half of numbers). Tang marked with "M1763" in script. Full stock with 2" crack in front of the lock and showing worm tracks on reverse, mostly behind the side plate (revarnished). Brass furniture with pleasing mustard-color patina (most had iron mounts); associated ramrod. Nice early date and the desirable brass mounts. Iron parts with light pitting and age stains. Overall length 16". Good working condition with strong mainspring.
