Unusual style with double quillons, but instead of being turned toward the point in the manner of the typical crabclaw rapier or dagger, they are angled only slightly downward. Single side ring, faceted ovoid pommel with button, and original spiral grip with twisted iron wire and copper turks heads top and bottom. Broad double-edged 11 5/8" blade of lens section tapering to a long sharp point, featuring 7 incised lines and a tapered flat ricasso. Metal lightly pitted; heavier on the blade. Overall length 16 3/4". A very attractive dagger of rare form. A more common crabclaw style dagger recently sold at auction in Europe for over $10,000.
