Gilt brass hilt with folding guard pierced and decorated with foliage and a royal coat of arms supported by rampant lions; angled pommel with laurel leaves . Rayskin covered wood grip, lacking wire. Straight 31 ½" blade with long triple fullers; marked with a crowned "FR" cipher and "Eisenhauer Garantirt/Gustav Emil Doring Leipzig". This likely the cipher of Friedrich III, who ruled only from March 9, 1888 to Jun 15, 1888. Blade with tiny pinprick pitting and dark with age. Approximately 70% gilding remains. No scabbard. Overall length 37".
