Iron hilt of typical cruciform shape with straight octagonal quillons, swelling toward the ends. Faceted plummet shape pommel; leather bound grip with iron ferrules top and bottom. Broad double-edged 33" straight blade with short central fuller and blunt tip, with laten-filled gallows one side; wheel on the other. Maker’s stamp at the forte. Scattered pitting and evidence of frequent sharpening; the blade still holding a sharp edge, as commonly found. Overall length 41 3/4". A German sword of justice which undoubtedly saw use.
